Text version
The following is the statement of work (SOW) and salient characteristics for replacement of the current GPS repeaters (i.e., retransmit antennas) for A-10C aircraft sunshades’ flight-line parking rows Lima, Motel & November. It also includes enhancing our five-bay hangar’s existing GPS repeater capability with another GPS repeater on the northwest end of the hangar for wall-to-wall GPS coverage. The A-10 five-bay hangar is located at 999 Arnold Avenue, Whiteman AFB, MO. There are six repeaters on each row, for a total of 18 repeaters, and an added repeater inside the five-bay hangar.
Replace existing and non-functioning GPS repeaters with new GPS repeaters.
REMOVAL
- Remove all existing GPS controllers, repeaters, antennas, cabling, batteries, chargers and solar panels from Lima, Motel & November rows.
- After all the above has been accomplished, the existing parts will be removed and replaced with new controllers, repeaters and cabling. However, the power source for the repeaters will not come from batteries, chargers or solar panels. There is currently 120VAC, 60Hz power available at the sunshades and is being utilized for lighting. I propose installing outlets at the top of the sunshades, near to each of the repeaters’ controllers, so the new repeaters will no longer be dependent on an intermittent power source.
Whiteman AFB Civil Engineering should be involved in installing the new power outlets.
Existing repeaters parts will be disposed of by the contractor.
GPS REPEATERS AND CONNECTING EQUIPMENT
The GPS controllers must be of the same specifications as the Echo II Military Specification GPS Controllers (3 each). The antennas must be pole-mounted, active donor antennas (3 each). The GPS repeaters and GPS splitters must be frequency-specific. The cabling must be type LMR 400.
- A GPS hangar kit will also be needed for the 5-bay maintenance hangar.
- Must be able to run and operate on 120 VAC, 1-phase, 60 Hz power
- All equipment must be able to withstand high humidity and temperature variances between -20° and 120° Fahrenheit.
- Only the antennas will be subject to direct precipitation. The rest of the equipment will be underneath the sunshades.
- The above equipment needs to be surge-protected.
INSTALLATION (in sunshades)
- Install three new outlets (one in each sunshade) near the GPS controllers to provide continuous power to the controllers/splitters.
- Install new GPS repeaters at the same locations from where the old repeaters were removed.
- Install new GPS controllers and splitters.
- Install new surge protectors in-line with the power outlets and equipment connected to them.
- Install/route new cabling from the GPS antennas to the GPS splitters and then from the GPS splitters out to each of the repeaters.
- Connect the splitters to the GPS controllers
- Provide all tools, equipment, labor, and miscellaneous hardware and supplies to install new GPS repeater systems.
INSTALLATION (in 5-bay hangar)
- Locate northwest corner of hangar. Install new outlet at the height of the bottom of the windows to accommodate powering the GPS repeater kit (~20 ft. above floor level).
- Locate northwest corner of hangar. Install new GPS maintenance hangar repeater equipment at the height of the bottom of the windows (~20 ft. above floor level).
