Questions and Answers
Vindicator Alarm
Question 1: Are equipment racks required for the SCIF, BDOC, Remote Monitoring, and the 2nd VBM locations to house the workstations and UPS?
Answer 1: Workstations and UPS Power Supplies should be rack mounted. It is up to the contractor to find sufficient existing rack space or provide racks as required to meet this requirement. Existing rack space is available. UL 2050 compliant and approved enclosures must be used for SCIF applications.
Question 2: Is the 2nd VBM3 located within the SCIF area with the 1st VBM3?
Answer 2: No.
Question 3: If not, the 1st VBM3 will needs its own SQL since it can't share the SQL with the SAW and the other VSS domains are located outside the SCIF.
Answer 3: The second VBM3 is for badge creation only with no enrollment or management function.
Enrollment take place at the VBM3 located inside the SCIF.
Question 4: We recommend using MR-50 Portal Controller's instead of the PCM's, is this an approved alternative?
Answer 4: It is up to the contractor to provide an AFI 31-101 compliant solution. All alternatives will be considered technically compliant if they are AFI 31-101 compliant using equipment from the current Approved Equipment List (AEL).
Question 5: Will the V5 IDS and V5 ACS connect to a RJ45 CAT6 port on a network switch inside the SCIF or do we need fiber optic converters?
Answer 5: The Government will provide wire RJ45 ports into which the V5’s can connected to the base wide network.
Question 6: Will power (120v) be provided by the government for the power supplies for the V5 IDS, V5 ACS, and the special wall outlet for the UPS or does the contractor need to do all power connections?
Answer 6: 120V, 20 Amp Circuits will be made available by the Government for all required power connections. UL 2050 compliant and approved enclosures must be used for SCIF applications.
Question 7: If contractor needs to do all power connections, are there 3 available circuits?
Answer 7: 120V, 20 Amp Circuits will be made available by the Government for all required power connections. UL 2050 compliant and approved enclosures must be used for SCIF applications.
Question 8: Will power (120v) and special outlets be provided by the government at the other locations, i.e. BDOC, Alt Monitoring, and 2nd VBM3?
Answer 8: 120V, 20 Amp Circuits will be made available by the Government for all required power connections. UL 2050 compliant and approved enclosures must be used for SCIF applications.
Question 9: If contractor needs to do all power connections, are there available circuits in all three (3) locations?

Question 10: Can you explain the 2nd VBM3 location? Where is it, what is its purpose, etc.?
Answer 10: Second VBM3 location is for badge creation only and will be deployed in an office outside of the SCIF. This location will not have or be allowed enrollment access or management capability for ACS points or readers within the SCIF.
