QUESTIONS:
1. The spec calls for replacement sidelight frames at classrooms. We would strongly recommend leaving existing welded sidelight frames in place. The labor to replace these frames would be extensive, requiring many hours of demo, reconstructing of walls, spackling & painting. Estimate per frame is between $3,000 and $3,500. If the purpose of replacing these frames is for fire rating, we would suggest hiring a field inspection labeling service.
- ANSWER: The specs will remain as is. Remove, provide and replace existing interior metal doors, frames and sidelights.
2. If the existing frames are used, the glass must be changed to fire-lite safety rated glass.
- ANSWER: N/A – New frames are to be installed.
