Altus AFB ATCT Console Upgrade
Solicitation FA4419-16-T-0105
1. Will the GRA-115 be replaced with the new 3.5” version and will the contractor need to supply?
- No equipment is scheduled to be replaced at this time.
2. Will the bookcase behind the Watch Supervisor/SOF desk need to be replaced?
Recommended because of raised floor
- The book case does not need to be replaced however the raised floor shall be designed to create a new bottom that fits into the new bookcase. The height of the shelves are adjustable.
3. Will a staging location for the new console be identified?
- There is limited staging area located within the tower facility, however, if more space is needed, coordination will be made to allow for the use of additional space.
4. Is the STARS Tower Aural Alarm Unit to be mounted into the console or remain loose? If mounted, will it be in a flat or sloped surface?
- It shall be mounted on a sloped surface.
5. Is the Air Field Lighting Panel under warranty or a maintenance contract? If so, will the panel be removed and replaced by the warranty or maintenance contract holder so that no agreements are violated.
- The Air Field Lighting Panel is the Government’s to maintain and repair, there is no warranty or maintenance contract.
6. Question 5 also applies to LMR units.
- There is no contract for the LMRs. AF will be responsible for relocation of LMRs.
7. With the raised floor extending to the convenience counter area, the replacement counter will be raised seven inches higher than the current one. Will that create any issues for the Controllers?
- This will not create an issue for the controllers and visibility, therefore raise the convenience counter the required ~7 inches.
8. Is the replacement convenience counter to retain the original length to include the refrigerator alcove? If so, the refrigerator alcove will replace one of the cabinet spaces.
- Yes the convenience counter shall retain the original length and include the refrigerator alcove.
9. Will a backsplash be required on the convenience counter and counter area at the top of the stairway? A backsplash would prevent things from falling behind the counter. The back splash would only have to be approximately 2 to 4 inches.
- Yes, a small back splash is required.
10. Both drawings provided show a custom seating and storage area located in front of the WS/SOF desk, is this to be proposed as none now exists? If it is to be proposed, what type of storage is to be planned; bookcase, chest, combination of both? Is this to be installed on the new raised floor section or on the original floor level? Is the height to be level with the new WS/SOF desk or below it? How many seats are desired?
- This proposed as new. The type of storage is to provide a place for backpacks or other personal items to be stored temporarily during the shift. A padded bench with chest or cabinet style storage underneath would work for our requirements. The vision for this was to create extra seating that is approximately as long as the
WS/SOF desk and would sit on the original floor so it doesn’t impede the WSs view.
11. Both drawings show the WS/SOF desk length to be 150 inches when it is actually only 126 inches. Is the 10 inches what is desired?
- The WS/SOF shall not exceed 150 inches; however more workspace is desired.
Depending on the space that is created with the new room design the WS/SOF desk shall be scaled to fit.
