The Following Question and Answer was recently posted to the Refuse Solicitation:
Question:
Which size dumpster was required for this job, and how often would the dumpster be emptied and what specific materials would be going into the dumpster?
Answer:
The dumpster size is listed as 2 cubic yard capacity in the PWS. The frequency for food and other high use dumpsters is specifically listed in the PWS. The other dumpsters are listed as at least once weekly, but if the dumpster reaches 80% of capacity it will need to be dumped. This may, on occasion, mean that a dumpster may have to be dumped twice in one week. The scheduling of the dumpsters that are not listed as specific days is up to the contractor.
Can you please confirm this question and answer was directed to the existing/current contract requirement and not the new requirement for Solicitation FA4419-13-T-0102? The question uses the verbiage “was” and “would”, which seems to imply he/she may be questioning what size will be required for the new solicitation.
Concerning the question and answer, the PWS for the new solicitation FA4419-13-T-0102, provides the following information concerning MSW Containers:
o 1.1.1.2. MSW Containers. Provide a quantity of 121 MSW three (3) CY dumpsters that are new or like new condition to be used base-wide.
We respectfully request that a clarification to this be made to FedBizOpps.
8/7/2013 Clarification:
We currently use 3 Cubic Yard capacity dumpsters that are dumped Monday through Friday
(5 days for food) and at least weekly for all others. However, if a dumpster that is emptied weekly exceeds 80% capacity of the dumpster, it must be emptied again (for a second time in one week). These same parameters are also in the solicitation.
Municipal solid waste will be going into the dumpsters. Recyclables (except cardboard) that are put into the dumpster, do not have to be sorted and removed by the contractor. The Contractor can alert the COR so that we may educate the facility on proper recyclable item disposal. The Contractor shall contact the COR if they notice cardboard in the dumpster so that we can get with the facility manager to have it removed so the Contractor can then empty the dumpster.
