QUESTION(S) & ANSWER(S) # 1
• Contractor Question: We have one question regarding the product requirement that we need the customer to provide some clarification.
In Section "B" of the Brand Name Justification, the last sentence states "Also included are side u-channels, bottom u-channels and a top fascia." However, under the Section
01.00 Scope, component requirements are"...Nightfall room darkening, Blackout material, side u-channels and top fascia."
For a complete light block system, the components are as follows: Opaque Shadecloth (0% openness), Fascia and back cover, side and sill u-channels. If you don't include the back cover, you could get light leaks at the top of the shade/window. If you don't include the sill channel, you can get light leaks at the seal. I have attachment an illustration for your review. Please let us know your customer's preference.
• Government Answer: The blackout shades that we are requesting have side channels with them and a front fascia. The back fascia is not needed. Also, the bottom U-sill is not required due to the shade not being able to fully fit into it.
