::Questions and Answers from opening through 23 June 2016::
Question 1: Does Lackland have an alternative model that is acceptable or do you prefer we find an acceptable replacement ourselves?
Government Response: No, we do not have an alternative model. Just as long as the televisions meet the required specifications listed.
Question 2: Does the base require the Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) cable attached to all televisions be replaced, or simply as needed?
Government Response: The Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) cable attached to all televisions be replaced as required.
Question 3: Will the base provide transportation around the job sites or should we plan to bring our own?
Government Response: The base will not provide transportation for the contractors and they will need their own.
Question 4: Are your buildings block or framed construction?
Government Response: Both
Question 5: Will all 96 units be replacing smartboards or other displays?
Government Response: Yes. They all will be replacing smartboards.
Question 6: What kind of walls are the units mounted to (brick, drywall, etc)?
Government Response: Both
Question 7: Can you provide a general idea of the cabling that would be needed and what cabling we would be reusing? More specifically, what will the TVs be connected to (projector, cable box, DVD/Blu-ray player)? If they are being connected to projectors, are the projectors ceiling mounted and if so, is the cabling already installed?
Government Response: See attached pictures (PICTURE 1 AND PICTURE 2, will be attached in attachments) to see if they help describe. The TV will be connected to a CPU for Powerpoint presentation.
The exact type no… but whatever cabling is needed to go from the TV to the CPU. BLDG 10215 has some rooms with TVs set up as monitors now.
Question 8: Can you provide some background to what type of applications these TVs will be used for (e.g. Computer presentations, TV, Blu-ray videos, Internet)? What will the requirement for "Smart TV" be used for (current or future applications)?
Government Response: Powerpoint Presentation. The TVs will take the place of the smartboards which are used from Powerpoint presentation. We hope to introduce technology into the classrooms, (like tablets eventually)
Question 9: I have found out that the lc80le650u is a discontinued model.
The current model is the lc80le661 commercial LED Smart TV with a 3 year warranty. (1920 x1080p resolution). I have attached the brochure. Do you require more information or will this suffice for the bid?
Government Response: This model will suffice.
Question 10: If the installation would be us just removing the old and installing the new in the same location as the existing, without moving any wiring to relocate the equipment, then a site visit may not be necessary. Can you let me know if that is the case?
Government Response: I don't know if the Smartboard wiring/cabling is compatible. There are some buildings with short throw projectors and some with the projection mounted in the ceiling. I would highly recommend a site visit.
Question 11: The RFQ states that “Removal of existing Smartboards will be required.” Does each of the 96 rooms have a Smartboard? Also what model are these if you have a list? (This is important for a general idea of size and weight so we can accurately respond to everything).
Government Response: Yes. Each room has a Smartboard. I do not have the model information as of this email but I will email unit personnel for the information.
Question 12: Are all 96 locations identified all on Lackland Air Force Base? (This is so we are sure how much time to allocate for installation) Government Response: All 96 TVs are not on Lackland. There will be six at Camp Bullis and 30 on Media Training Annex.
Question 13: The solicitation states: “Storage of materials shall be coordinated with the customer.”
Is this specifically the entire project materials or merely the day to day install materials?
Government Response: If we can accommodate the entire projects material we will. If we can’t we will do what we can to accommodate, as long as we get some coordination.
