RENOVATE ARNOLD HALL

ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS

1. Can you supply a Fire Alarm spec and scope for this project? This is a big ticket item when referencing the UFC and NFPA codes?

Answer: See Clarification: The existing fire alarm is not required be meet new codes, however additions and modifications will be required to the existing system. Provide compatible devices as required.

2. Will we need to furnish an FPE for this project? This will require a great deal more information and site survey to support the FPE’s efforts. This item will take some time to put together if required.

Answer: No a FPE is not required for this project, but a certified installer will be required to add new and modify existing devises on existing zones.

3. Are we to assume the fire alarm will be active during the entire project?

Answer: Yes, since the building will be occupied. However, should the system need to be temporarily down the Fire Department, Contracting and the Construction Manager will need a 48 hour notice prior to the service being down.

4. If it is not possible to bring only the contract portion of the building up to the fire codes will the whole building need to be upgraded?

Answer: See Clarification. The building is not required to be brought up to fire code. Ensure adequate fire strobe/horn/speaker devices are properly located within occupiable spaces.

5. Can you provide new drawings showing all egress lighting required?

Answer: No. Refer to the current addendum. Additional fixtures have been added in each phase of construction.

6. What panel will feed the extra circuits required to meet the SOW?

1. Answer: Refer to the addendum. The electrical panel, and transformer, that was removed in the previous addendum has been added back to the project. Refer to the Statement of Work, 3.2.3 Scope, Provide and Install, for panel and transformer information.

7. Amendment states LED fixtures: The SOW states fluorescent fixture unless all are placed together separately they will not match: Is it your intent to match per area with the 25%?

Answer: The requirement for LED light fixtures, as stated in the previous amendment, has been removed per the addendum.

8. The bid documents state “See Scope of Work” however we cannot find the Scope of Work. We also need to know what type of plumbing fixtures are currently installed and what type of plumbing fixtures will be reinstalled. Please advise.

Answer: The Scope of Work is provided within the Statement of Work. Refer to the scope for product suggestions. Ensure ADA toilet, urinal and lavatory fixtures (1 each minimum) are installed in Restrooms B13 and B12. Installation shall be per ADA requirements.

9. Q&A 51 & 52 both refer to the door hardware section, 08 81 00, but this spec does not seem to provide a specific hardware set for each specific door, as is customary. If a hardware schedule will not be provided and if we must match existing, can another site visit be allowed so that we can get an accurate list of what’s required for each opening?

Answer: Refer to Section 087100 of the Specifications for additional door hardware information.
