General Comments:
Additionally, the Music Director will sight-read and perform a piece of music or song in the Catholic tradition (provided by the government). Excellent sight-reading and improvisation skills required when working with Catholic liturgy. The sight-reading will come from the Music for the Roman Missal located at the following:

Sight-Reading: Pass/Fail
General Comments:
*Disclaimer: St. Joseph of Cupertino Catholic Community at Los Angeles Air Force Base welcomes a qualified Music Director who understands how to prepare, develop, design, implement, and perform traditional Catholic liturgical music that encourages congregational and choir singing for children (as required, i.e., Advent) and adults.
To accomplish this, the government will use the S.M.A.R.T. method in-addition to the above requirements.
Specific: The Music Director will bring with him/her a Catholic piece of his/her choosing and perform it during the audition. The Catholic piece must reflect where and when he/she played it.
Pass/Fail (Circle one)
Measurable: The Music Director will demonstrate the ability to simulate (knowing when to start and stop the music) when the Catholic priest is performing his duties in the service. Furthermore, the Music Director will play one song each from the following Catholic liturgical calendar: (performer will bring his/her own music sheets and identify what he/she is playing)
| a. Advent | Pass/Fail (Circle one) |
| b. Lent | Pass/Fail (Circle one) |
| c. Christmas Eve | Pass/Fail (Circle one) |
| d. Christmas Day | Pass/Fail (Circle one) |
| e. Good Friday | Pass/Fail (Circle one) |
Achievable: Did the Music Director look confident and competent in the knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy during the audition (i.e., look like he/she knew what he/she was doing)? According to Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 1346, Mass follows a “fundamental structure which has been preserved throughout the centuries down to our own day.”
Pass/Fail (Circle one)
Results: The Music Director will demonstrate the ability to read from and perform from the Missal at request from the government during the audition. Pass/Fail (Circle one)
The Music Director will demonstrate for the government the ability to sing/chant various Catholic liturgies from his/her own choosing (must bring prepared liturgy to sing/chant).
Pass/Fail (Circle one)
Time: The Music Director must be ready and agree to execute the contract on said requirements in the SOW.
