PURCHASE DESCRIPTION

FOR

HIGH VALUE RESISTANCE STANDARDS

1.0 SCOPE: This purchase description identifies performance requirements for High Value Resistance

Standards. Nominal resistance values shall be 100 MΩ, 1 GΩ, 10 GΩ, 100 GΩ, 1 TΩ, and 10

TΩ. The High Value Resistance Standards shall all be contained in one temperature controlled enclosure.

2.0 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

2.1 Nominal Resistance: 100 MΩ, 1 GΩ, 10 GΩ, 100 GΩ, 1 TΩ, and 10 TΩ

2.1.1 Accuracy: 100 MΩ, 1 GΩ, 10 GΩ, 100 GΩ, 1 TΩ, and 10 TΩ shall have an accuracy from nominal over the life of the resistor of 100ppm, 200 ppm, 500 ppm, 1000 ppm, 2500 ppm, and 5000 ppm, respectively.

2.2 12 Month Stability/Accuracy: 100 MΩ, 1 GΩ, 10 GΩ, 100 GΩ, 1 TΩ, and 10 TΩ shall not drift over 12 months more than 20ppm, 40 ppm, 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 500 ppm, and 1000 ppm, respectively.

2.3 Voltage Requirements: 100 MΩ, 1 GΩ, 10 GΩ, 100 GΩ, 1 TΩ, and 10 TΩ shall be capable of input voltages from 10 VDC to 1000 VDC while maintaining the full capability of the resistance standard.

2.4 Temperature Coefficient: Temperature Coefficient shall not apply while the Resistance

Standard is a 23 ºC ± 5 ºC.

2.4.1 Application: Outside of the operating temperature of 23 ºC ± 5 ºC the 100 MΩ, 1

GΩ, 10 GΩ, 100 GΩ, 1 TΩ, and 10 TΩ shall have a temperature coefficient of less than or equal to 1ppm/C, 2 ppm/ºC, 2 ppm/ºC, 10 ppm/ºC, 15 ppm/ºC, and

25 ppm/ºC, respectively.

2.5 Voltage Coefficient Definition: Voltage Coefficient shall apply to a voltage that the resistance standard is not calibrated.

2.5.1 Voltage Coefficient: 100 MΩ, 1 GΩ, 10 GΩ, 100 GΩ, 1 TΩ, and 10 TΩ shall have a voltage coefficient less than or equal to 1ppm/C 1 ppm/VDC, 5 ppm/VDC, 5 ppm/VDC, 5 ppm/VDC, and 5 ppm/VDC, respectively.

2.6 Temperature Chamber: Enclosure shall be temperature controlled

2.6.1 Monitor: Temperature shall be capable of being monitored through Platinum

Resistance Temperature (PRT) Sensor.

2.6.2 Stability: Enclosure temperature stability shall be ± 0.01 ºC over 1 year

3.0 FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

3.1 Rack Mount Kit: Shall be included with each High Value Resistance Standard; rack mountable to standard 19 inch rack

4.0 MECHANICAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

4.1 Connector Type: All resistors shall be connected individually utilizing N Connector Type

4.2 Rack Mount: Enclosure shall be rack mountable to standard 19 inch rack and perform to full specifications within rack or table top configuration.

4.2.1 Height: Enclosure shall not exceed a height of 6 inches while rack mounted

4.3 Power Requirement: 100 – 120 VAC ± 10% at a frequency of 50-60 Hz ± 10%

4.4 Environmental Requirements: Shall perform to full specifications in the following environment

4.4.1 Operating Temperature: 23 ºC ± 5 ºC

4.4.2 Operating Humidity: less than or equal to 50% RH, non-condensing

4.4.3 Storage Temperature: -20 ºC to 60 ºC

4.4.4 Storage Humidity: less than or equal to 90% RH, non-condensing

4.5 Workmanship: Shall be first class, of neat general appearance in compliance with standard commercial practices. The standards of workmanship shall be such that the High Value

Resistance Standard complies with the requirements set forth in this purchase description.

4.6 Hermetically Sealed: Each resistor shall be hermetically sealed in inert gas

4.7 Guard and Ground: Shall contain a guard and ground post. Resistors shall be connected to the guard network.

5.0 OPERATOR’S MANUAL: Shall at a minimum contain the following:

5.1 Instrument Setup

5.2 Connection Diagram

5.3 Accuracy Specification

6.0 TESTING: Shall be completed at AFMETCAL with test equipment and parameters equal to or better than those required assuring specified performance requirements are met. Test equipment has first echelon certification directly traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology

(NIST) or other AFMETCAL approved sources where required. Test shall be performed to assure the High Value Resistance Standards meet or exceed all of the requirements in this purchase description. Testing does not relieve the contractor of performing all inspections and quality control checks at the point of fabrication as necessary to assure performance as specified.
