About this file

The document is a service specification for fire backflow preventer inspections issued by the Department of Human Resources (DHR) for Madison County, Alabama. The specification requires a vendor to perform annual inspections of approximately 4 backflow prevention systems located at the DHR Madison County office in Huntsville, with a mandatory site visit scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 10 AM. Interested suppliers must complete a sign-in sheet, provide a written summary of backflow systems, and have technicians with current NICET certification. The inspections must comply with NFPA 25 standards and local code requirements, with quarterly testing required for sprinkler-protecting backflow systems.

The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder meeting all specifications, with a unit price to be entered for the annual inspection. The inspection fee must include all associated costs such as supplies, travel, and labor, but does not cover part replacements or repair costs. Invoicing will follow a Net 30 payment schedule, with invoices submitted after service completion and requiring specific documentation including the DHR office name, technician name, purchase order number, and service date. The specification explicitly states that the service does not cover fire alarm system or fire extinguisher inspections, and suppliers will not be paid for unauthorized services.
