Attachment J.1 Personal Statement of Independence

I have read the provisions of Government Auditing Standards (December 2011 Revision) (GAS) on ethical principles in government auditing (GAS Chapter 1) and general standards of independence (GAS Chapter 3). To the best of my knowledge and belief, I affirm that I comply with this Government Auditing Standards in regard to the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA).

Further, I have read the following statement in NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-53 Revision 4 on the definition of independence within the scope of this contract.

“Independent assessors or assessment teams are individuals or groups who conduct impartial assessments of organizational information systems. Impartiality implies that assessors are free from any perceived or actual conflicts of interest with regard to the development, operation, or management of the organizational information systems under assessment or to the determination of security control effectiveness. To achieve impartiality, assessors should not: (i) create a mutual or conflicting interest with the organizations where the assessments are being conducted; (ii) assess their own work; (iii) act as management or employees of the organizations they are serving; or (iv) place themselves in positions of advocacy for the organizations acquiring their services.”

I am not aware of any potential conflicts of interest or situations, which might impair my ability to audit or conduct other activities independently. If I receive an assignment that could affect my independence or create an appearance of the lack of independence, I will inform my immediate supervisor at once so that I can be reassigned to a different area.
