Scope of Work

USGS/Albuquerque Seismological Laboratory Target Rd 10002 Isleta SE Kirtland AFB, NM 87117

ASL Operations Background:

The USGS, at the Albuquerque Seismological Laboratory (ASL), operates and maintains the Global Seismograph Network (GSN). The ASL does both research and operations in earthquake monitoring, this includes receiving data 24/7 from stations around the world. Data analyzed by scientists at ASL are used to help mitigate loss of life and property. The ASL facilities are in the foothills of the Isleta Pueblo approximately 14 miles from the Truman gate of Kirtland Air Force Base.

Overall project scope:

The USGS/ASL requires maintenance construction for restoration and preservation of the asphalt entrance to the Albuquerque Seismological Laboratory. The entrance way is located on KAFB. The asphalt is failing on the edges due to wear, weather and type of material used previously. The following Statement of Work (SOW) lists requirements to facilitate construction of the work for this requirement.

1. Work Statement:

1.1 Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, and professional guidance required to perform the work explained in this work statement. All work explained in this SOW will be performed in accordance with NM DOT Standard Specifications for Highway and Bridge Construction, 2019 Edition.

2. Asphalt Milling: NM DOT Standard Specifications for Highway and Bridge Construction, 2019 Edition. (Reference Sections 414,303, 902).

2.1 The contractor shall mill asphalt for approximately 374 linear feet and the 24-foot width of existing asphalt. Estimated existing asphalt depth ranges from ¾ inches to 3 inches. (Reference Section 414.) [footnoteRef:1] [1: 414.3.1 & 414.3.2, Materials milled will stay in road prism and mixed into base course. ]

2.2 The contractor will mill existing asphalt in place. Milled asphalt will remain on the existing road prism to be mixed and used in the base course at a depth of 6 inches. (Reference Section, 303.)[footnoteRef:2] [2: 303.2.1 #5]
