DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT
Project Description The Stem Cell Translational Laboratory (SCTL) within the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Division of Pre-Clinical Innovation dedicated to addressing scientific and technological challenges intends to estaqblish and move stem cell technologies forward through a more centralized ef fort.
The goal of the SCTL is to bring iPSC technology closer to clinical application, drug discovery and regenerative medicine. Through SCTL, NCATS will provide researchers across various disciplines and https://www.acquisition.gov/ organizations with the ability to establish collaborations to advance the translation of regenerative medicine applications. Through a multidisciplinary collaborative team approach, NCATS’ SCTL scientists aim to:
• Establish detailed quality control (QC) standards to def ine pluripotency and dif ferentiated cell types.
• Develop methods to assess variations in cultured cells derived f rom iPSCs.
• Develop standard methods to produce mature cells meeting the QC standards above.
• Discover, validate and disseminate small molecule reagents to replace expensive recombinant proteins, xenogenic material and undef ined media components in cell dif ferentiation protocols.
This instrument will be used upon routine iPSC maintenance and dif ferentiation culture to measure cell viability and immunophenotypes. This is a required instrument in cell culture labs as it provides precise information about the health, number of cells, and immunophenotypes of the cells being cultured by a biologist, while removing inter-operator variability that happens when counting manually. This equipment will be used routinely for internal and external collaborations. It will help NCATS to perform experiments in a steady and fast-paced manner.
Purpose and Objectives The Stem Cell Translation Laboratory (SCTL) within the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Division of Pre-Clinical Innovation (DPI) dedicated to addressing scientif ic and technological challenges, specifically, aims to bring iPSC technology closer to clinical application, drug discovery and regenerative medicine application. This project will require the Celleca PLX Image Cytomer
