REPLACE WALK-IN ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMBER PERFORMANCE

WORK STATEMENT

2.0 Project Contact Persons:

A. The Contractor’s work shall adhere to the criteria stated within these project requirements, drawings, and specifications. All construction shall comply with applicable federal, state, and local code requirements as well as current industry standards, (ie: EPA, ASTM, GSA, AASHTO, etc.) and health and safety codes, in effect at the time of contract award.

B. All work to meet all pertinent Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) and ARS Facility Design Standards – Manual 242.1M at www.afm.ars.usda.gov/ppweb/pdf/242-01m.pdf . UFGS available at http://www.wbdg.org/ffc/dod/unified-facilities-guide-specifications-ufgs.

C. Provide engineering design drawings with professional stamp for review and approval. Provide as-built drawings after installation.

5.0 Background & Site Description:

A. The site consists of an interior cement floor in a climate controlled facility.

The existing walk in environmental chamber will be removed and disposed of by the Contractor prior to installation.

B. The new walk in environmental chamber will be a Percival AR-1012LEDL2 Chamber or equivalent with exterior dimensions of 117”W X 139”D x 107.5”H

6.0 Technical Cost Proposal: Base Bid for this contract.

7.0 Special Requirements

A THE WALK-IN ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMBER

1. Existing Site Work. The Contractor shall furnish, prepare, and install a new Percival AR-1012LEDL2 chamber or equivalent with the following options.

a. Control System, allowing monitoring and programming capabilities from a local or remote location via web browser, On-board data logging exportable to USB drive, Touch Screen

b. Two tiers of White LED tile lighting with 580 μmoles/m²/sec at 6” from the light fixture (470 μmoles/m²/sec at 12”). Dimmable, each tier individually.

c. Two tiers of removable shelving along the side walls. Shelves are 30” D x 60” W, wire shelves, epoxy coated. Total lighted shelf area = 100 ft²

d. Growth height: 38” per tier

e. Seven convenience outlets, 1 each in each of the corner cable runs and one dual outlet centered along both side walls and the back wall.

f. Insulated floor with internal ramp, with two drains one per each side of the chamber and draining into a condensate pump.

g. Air cooled condensing unit, top mounted

h. Temperature range : 10°- 35°C (lights on) and 4°- 35°C (lights off)

i. Humidity control :

j. Standard dehumidification via DXF refrigeration

k. Door with 12” x 12” Observation Window with Cover

l. Horizontal air flow across each shelf via side wall perforated adjustable plenums

m. False stainless steel ceiling

8.0 Performance Schedule: Project to be completed within 180 days of the NTP or sooner.

9.0 Government Furnished Equipment\Services

A. The Government will provide access to the site utilities (electrical, plumbing, floor drains) and ensure that adequate power is available for installation.

B. Area of installation and route to install area will be kept clear and unobstructed during chamber installation, with removal of doors, windows or other obstructions as needed.

C. Loading dock/forklift provided.

D. Supply and connection of building services to the equipment in accordance with local codes, restrictions and legislation.

10.0 General Requirements:

A. Permits: Where governing regulations and imposed codes and standards require notices, permits, licenses, inspections, tests, and similar items or actions in order to lawfully proceed with the required work, the Design Contractor shall obtain items and take those actions in accordance with the regulations of the governing authority. The costs of construction permits, licenses, inspections, etc., are the obligation of the future Construction Contractor.

B. Schedules shall be updated and furnished with each submittal.

C. Submittals shall be made as scheduled in the Special Requirements section. Each submittal shall be distributed electronically in Adobe for review, to the COR at the facility, Engineering Project Manager, and Contracting Officer. Each submittal shall contain the previous submittal's Excel comment sheet with responses, notes of meetings held with ARS personnel, design notes, calculations, and construction progress bi-weekly meetings during construction.

D. Changes in the scope of work or the task order that affect the level of effort of the Contractor have to be pre-approved by the CO.

E. Disputes or questions that arise after the task order has been negotiated will be resolved by the CO.
