SYSTEM WIRING & CHECKOUT GUIDELINES

(1) Ensure all system devices have been installed in accordance with the approved submittal drawings, equipment installation instructions and JCI Code of Practice.

(2) Installation Validation is not to commission or calibrate devices but rather to provide a means for the installing contractor to certify the installation is complete.

(3) Verification is required to provide a 100% certification of installed work. At a minimum a complete end-to-end check of all wiring installed. Termination Start point through all Termination Junction Points to the Final Termination Point.

(4) Follow all NEC and local code restrictions

(5) Follow project contract specifications for allowed cable installation requirement

(6) For more information regarding proper installation review specific details for the system being installed provided by System Manufacturer.

(7) Installing Contractor is required to be on site for each system during initial commissioning mobilization.

(8) Verify all Tagging is complete

(9) Verify all Controller Addresses and Jumpers are set

GROUNDFAULTTEST.

(1) Verify there are no ground faults on any circuit conductors except required grounding conductors.

(2) Verify shields are insulated from ground at all points along the circuit except as recommended by the manufacturer. Shields are typically terminated only at the point of origin.

(3) Verify that there are no devices installed on the conductors being tested if a 'Megger' or other high voltage test equipment is used to test for ground faults.

CIRCUIT CONTINUITY & RESISTANCE TEST ···

(1) Verify the correct value of end of line resistor is installed on circuits that require them.

(2) Verify no end of line resistor is installed on circuits that do not require them.

(3) Verify shields are continuous.

(4) Verify there are no open circuits.

(5) Verify there are no wire-to-wire short circuits.

STRAYVOLTAGE TEST .

(1) Check for stray voltages each circuit conductor to ground and across each circuit pair.
