All visitors to Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) must coordinate access and submit a completed Form NN 9327 and complete a background check prior to unescorted access to CVN 78.
Visitor Access Form NN 9327. Submit completed electronic Form NN 9327 (Rev 17) to Mr. Wesley T. Stone, Security Assistant, Code 163, SUPSHIP Newport News, 757-688-8852, wesley.t.stone@navy.mil, Hardcopy forms will not be accepted. Electronic forms must be digitally signed and encrypted prior to being sent. Form NN 9327 can be found at https://supplier.huntingtoningalls.com/sourcing/access-badging-requirements/.
Background checks. Set up an account and order a background check at https://www.backgroundchecks.com/solutions/huntington, and submit along with Form NN9327. The following information is required for a background check:
Most current 7 years of employment Current driver’s license info Education Location and Badge Pickup. Pick up badges at from HIINC-NNS Pass and ID Office, 210 39th Street, Newport News, VA 23607, BLDG 625. Provide the following at pick up:
Proof of Citizenship (i.e. unexpired passport or birth certificate), A copy of the completed background check certificate Proof of Identification, Driver’s license or any other identification card issued by federal, state, or local government that contains a photograph and the person’s name, date of birth, gender, height, eye color, and street address.
Secured space access. If a contractor has requested a clearance on his/her badge, submit a DD 254 to SUPSHIP along with visitor access request and background check. Ensure the DD 254 and NN 9327contract number match.
Timeline for completion. Initial visitor access processing (NN 9327, background check, and/or DD 254 submitted to SUPSHIP) is 1-3 days. Access to NNS may be requested for up to two years provided the individual has a background investigation and contract/purchase order valid through the requested date.
First-time visitors are required to present at time of visit:
Proof of Identification, Driver’s license or any other identification card issued by federal, state, or local government that contains a photograph and the person’s name, date of birth, gender, height, eye color, and street address
Proof of US Citizenship
U.S. birth certificate (birth documents issued by a hospital, notifications of birth registrations; and Puerto Rico birth certificates issued before July 1, 2010 are not accepted
Valid, unexpired U.S. passport or U.S. passport card
U.S. Certificate of Citizenship or Certificate of Naturalization
A record of Military Processing-Armed forces of the United States (Form DD 1966), provided it reflects U.S. citizenship
Proof of Background Investigation Completion
Required for all unescorted visits and for visitors who have already been issued their one-time by escort badge:

Note: A REAL ID compliant driver’s license can only be used as proof of identity. It does not satisfy the citizenship requirement. Copies or images on electronic devices are not accepted.
