About this file

This document is a sole source justification for the installation of Motorola radios in government vehicles. The 36th Contracting Squadron requires a contractor to install Motorola APX 8500 radios, including all necessary parts, mounts, adapters, assemblies, and programming, in new command vehicles. The justification cites FAR authority to use other than full and open competition due to only one responsible source being available. All of the fire department's radios currently use Motorola infrastructure standardized across Air Force installations. The radios require a Motorola-certified technician to ensure proper configuration. A sources sought notice yielded interest from three small business Motorola distributors. Cost reasonableness will be determined based on market rates and historical pricing. Compatibility with the existing Motorola network requires the specified brand.
