About this file
This document outlines specifications for a grain legume field thresher solicitation from the Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Field Research Implementation and Information Delivery Plains Area. The solicitation seeks a field threshing machine capable of harvesting plots up to 200 square feet in size, with a threshing drum that can clean seeds ranging from 1-18 mm including peas, lentils, and chickpeas. The thresher should have a gasoline or diesel motor, adjustable speed threshing drum and cleaning fan speeds, removable concave and sieves, belt fed design, and be attached to a wheeled chassis. The manufacturer will also install and tune the thresher to effectively process lentil, pea, and chickpea seeds for the initial research uses, with potential future use on additional grain legumes.

Specifications
A field threshing machine is needed that can be used to harvest plots of up to 200 ft2 in size. This is specialized machinery for field research and only a couple of companies make this type of equipment.
The thresher will initially be used to produce clean seeds of peas, lentils, and chickpeas and perhaps in the future with other large-seed grain legumes including faba bean. The thresher will be used outside at field research sites and must have either a gasoline or diesel motor. Ideally, the thresher will also have the following features.
Grain Legume Field Thresher
1) Capable of cleaning seed ranging in size from 1-18 mm and of varying shape
2) Attached to chassis that has wheels
3) Gasoline or diesel motor
4) Adjustable speed threshing drum
5) Display drum speed and cleaning fan speed.
6) Removable concave and sieves.
7) Belt fed machine
8) Manufacturer installation and tuning to effectively process lentil, pea, and chickpea seed.
