About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of replacement tillage equipment for the USDA-ARS Rollins Research Farm in Columbia, Missouri. The USDA-ARS facility requires a single 12-foot disk to replace a 1960s John Deere model that no longer functions adequately for current research needs. The sandy soils at the facility create particularly abrasive conditions that have degraded the existing equipment, and the new disk is needed to provide the smooth seed bed preparation required for soybean and corn research conducted by USDA and University researchers.
The equipment must meet specific technical requirements including compatibility with 90-115 hp tractors, 24-inch 4-gauge smooth blades with 8.5-inch spacing, 12-ply tires, 4x10-inch lift cylinders, a three-row coil tine harrow with locking capability, a minimum total weight of 4,200 lbs with 300 lbs per foot cut capacity, and 1¾-inch gang shafts. The disk must be delivered to the M.S. Zuber building at 2305 Agronomy Research Drive, Columbia, Missouri 65203 within 30 days after receipt of order. The equipment must be compact enough to maneuver around the farm's fencing system while providing the weight and durability necessary for heavy-duty tillage operations in the abrasive soil conditions.

Tillage Equipment
Statement of Work (SOW)
Project: Tillage Equipment for Rollins Research Farm
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work:
Replacement of our 1960s John Deere 12-foot disk due to excessive ware and damage, which no longer functions adequately to meet our needs. The goal of replacing this piece of equipment is to ensure that our field preparation is suitable for the current research objectives. To meet these objectives, we need to purchase a 12-foot disk that has specific features to meet our needs. This equipment needs to be both compact for maneuvering around our fencing system and heavy enough to provide the quality of tillage required.
2.0 Background:
At the USDA-ARS Rollins farm we have very sandy soils which to provide workable platform for tillage. However, with the degree of abrasiveness it is extremely hard on bearings and metal. Currently we provide research space for several USDA and University researchers whose disciplines involve soybean and corn research. To provide the necessary field preparation for even germination our existing tillage equipment no longer provides the smooth seed bed required.
3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:
-Twelve-foot disk that fits a 90 hp-115 hp tractor
-24” 4-gauge smooth Blades
-8.5 inch spacing between blades
-12 ply tires
-4X10 inch lift cylinders
-Three row coil tine harrow with the ability to lock it up when not in use
-4200 lbs, plus total weight
-300 lbs per foot cut
-1 ¾ inch gang shafts
5.0 Deliverables / Schedule:
One 12-foot disk with the above specifications to be delivered to USDA-ARS_PGRU at the M.S. Zuber building, 2305 Agronomy Research Drive, Columbia, Missouri 65203 within 30 days after receipt of order.
