About this file
This document includes a federal contract opportunity solicitation for a Rigaku benchtop CT scanner and X-ray diffraction system. The solicitation seeks quotes for one Rigaku benchtop CT scanner and one Rigaku X-ray diffraction system to be delivered and installed. The solicitation includes specifications for the CT scanner, which must have a 200mm by 150mm field of view, 130kV X-ray energy, 2.2 megapixel resolution, and both step scan and continuous scan modes from 18 seconds to 68 minutes. The system must have a 15-second minimum reconstruction time and accurate sample placement capabilities. The X-ray diffraction system must also be supplied by Rigaku as a combined system. Responses are due under solicitation number 140L5722Q0040 to the Bureau of Land Management Utah Region contract specialist Ellen Fisher by the specified response date.

Micro Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner Intended purpose and use The intended use is to examine geologic samples (rocks, cores) and mineral, paleontological, and archeological samples using CT to determine various internal structures and characteristics.
Potential samples include ore samples, basic hand samples, core samples various cultural objects all that require a non-destructive examination of internal structures
Salient Characteristics A benchtop capable CT (or floor standing CT) with at least the following specifications:
• X-ray energy of 130 kV, Field of View (FOV) FOV of 200 mm φ x 150, o a FOV area of 200 mm φ x 57 mm with a stitching function that automatically combines the CT data, that supports up to a 150 mm height area by Z-axis movement.
o The FOV must be able to be adjusted from 5 mm φ to 200 mm φ;
• must have a 2.2 µm high-resolution clear image.
o it must have a step scan mode capable of high contrast imaging.
o it must have a continuous scan mode capable of high-speed imaging with a wide range of preset continuous scan modes from a fast 18-second scan to a high-resolution 68-minute scan available.
• It must have a 15-second minimum reconstruction allowing display of the CT image quickly.
• It must have accurate sample placement with a sample monitor optical CCD to check the position between the sample and the X-ray source and the detector.
• Scanning of small samples must be able to set the scanning position accurately by clicking the target point on a real time 2D projection image.
• A real time 2D projection mode must be available, and the projections collected over a certain period must be able to be saved as a movie.
• The benchtop CD selected must have an easy tomogram viewer and a realistic 3D image.
It must have an easy-to-use 2D cross section viewer software and realistic 3D volume rendering provided by software in-house that is included in the standard configuration.
• It must plug into a standard United States electrical outlet and must have a radiation-controlled area contained inside the equipment.
• Maximum Sample Size: 200 mm diameter x 270 mm height
