John Muir National Historic Site Removal and Replacement of HVAC System Components
Statement of Work
Scope This Project involves the removal and replacement of one existing natural gas furnace and condenser with coil. Located in the John Muir Visitors Center. Condenser unit located on the roof of the single-story visitor’s center. All existing return air ducts and ducting in the John Muir Visitors center will be utilized and not replaced unless necessary.
Location Project is located at John Muir National Historic Site, 4202 Alhambra Ave, CA. 94553.
Contact Work to be coordinated and approved by National Park Service Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
Special Conditions Work may be conducted from 7:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Contractor will perform all work per California State Building Code HVAC requirements. The Contractor will ensure all work performed will be free of defects and poor workmanship and will be responsible for the cost and repair of any work that does not meet project specifications. Remove furnaces and air conditioning unit, and all project waste and debris must be legally disposed of or recycled offsite.
The Contractor will provide the standard ten-year warranty on parts and labor on furnace and air conditioner installations.
Work to be Performed Remove existing natural gas furnace and condenser. Determine if plenum will work with new system. Provide and install a new minimum 5-Ton-16 Seer AC and matching Coil. Provide and install a new minimum 100,000 BTU 96% efficiency up draft natural gas furnace with condensate pump or equivalent in the same location as existing.
Install 4 new programable digital thermostats. Refabricate existing plenum and return air duct openings as needed to fit new furnace and coil. Tie in and utilize existing furnace vent and drain lines. Use existing electrical and natural gas connections to install new furnace, test new furnace for correct installation and operation.
