Statement of Work
Replacement of East Rooftop Condensing Unit Compressor, Rm #44 Freezer, Building #17
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Background and Purpose
The United States Meat Animal Research Center is a facility with many facilities that aid in the production of various research projects and animal husbandry. As part of the effort the east rooftop condensing unit for the walk-in freezer, rm. #44 in building 17 need to have the compressor replaced.
The condensing unit is a Larkin as manufactured by Heatcraft Refrigeration Products. The model number is LDVS2201L6D with serial numbers 10102374R. This condensing unit is part of a Beacon II split system. The existing compressor is a Copeland, model #4DT3F76KLTSK, serial #87569.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
2.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks
The tasks shall include the following:
1. Remove existing freon from system.
2. Use drier filters such as SLD13-5SVHH and 4864 to clean up system and to provide ongoing moisture removal. Change dirty filter driers as needed to remove trapped contaminates such as moisture, acids, and dirt.
3. Use “acid away” or a similar product to remove acids
4. Replace POE oil.
5. Use flushing product as needed to catch contaminants and then purge with nitrogen.
6. Replace compressor.
7. Install new Freon R-449A to unit’s capacity. Site has 50 lbs of existing freon R-449A which can be used to charge system. An additional 25 lbs of R-449A shall be brought to the site to complete the charge of the system. 50 lbs of new R-449A freon shall be left with the owner for future needs.
8. Replace 30A, 230V contactor which is a requirement per the compressor manufacturer.
9. Perform any additional work to insure system is fully charged with proper oil and freon, all contaminants have been removed from the system and system will operate as fully intended.
10. Replace any insulation removed. Insulation shall be new closed cell black foam insulation to match existing insulation. Insulation jacket shall be included.
11. Contractor is responsible for verifying all field conditions, sizes of material, and distances prior to purchase of material.
12. All settings of condensing units shall be adjusted for freon R-449a.
Submittals:
Literature shall be submitted for all material to be supplied prior to ordering.
Demolition:
All material removed and not reused shall be removed by the contractor from the site.
Toilets:
Contractor may use Building #17 bathroom facilities if use is not abused. If use becomes an issue, contractor will be expected to provide their own facilities.
Access to Buildings:
Contractor's access to buildings shall be limited to those areas where work is being done.
Material Receiving:
Contractor shall be responsible for receiving and storage of all materials. Material shall not be shipped to owner's warehouse under any condition.
Security:
All contract personnel are required to complete a form to register as being on-site and shall also agree to a written statement of conduct while on the property.
Cleanup:
The Contractor shall keep the premises clean during construction and shall remove all rejected material, rubbish, etc., after completion of work and prior to final inspection.
Project time and Address All of this work shall be accomplished within a one week time period.
Work must begin 10 days after award. Work must be completed in a 1-week time period.
