Scope of work for Glass Entry way for 6100 Suite
Objective:
The Department of the Interior (DOI) is seeking bids to design and install a glass wall and entry door system at the executive offices, suite 6100, on the 6th Floor of the Main Interior Building. The wall will provide privacy by separating the executive wing from the main corridor accessing the remainder of the 6th Floor.
Background:
The 6100 corridor houses offices of high-level officials that need an extra level of security.
Scope of Work:
· Full-height glass partition to separate the reception area and elevator lobby, double doors, and a raceway for security cabling to the fifth-floor telecom closet.
· The partition will be a storefront assembly, with 1-¾” by 4-½” frame channel and clear ¼”-thick tempered glass. The doors will include a 36”-wide leaf, with handle, closer, electric locking mechanism. and 32”-diameter adhesive DOI emblem, for normal traffic and a 21”- wide leaf to increase access for janitorial and delivery service carts and dollies. The hardware finish (Bronze or equal to the existing space) will be selected to match that of the elevator lobby.
· Work will be in a registered historical landmark building. Historical aspects of the space that may not be modified include corridor floors and stone wall cladding.
· Access the reception area ceiling through the smooth areas for the raceway installation. The textured ceiling cannot be cut as it contains ACM
· Run conduit from Telecom/Mechanical floor to 6th floor mechanical room
· Cut/patch/paint to match ceiling after conduit is run.
· Setup temporary dust protection with plastic sheathing.
· Design Documents: Drawings and specifications detailing the assembly components and installation requirements
· Provide design elevations and a frame attachment approach for review by DOI. Design and concept will need to be approved DOI before construction.
· This includes Demolition drawings, floor plan (Including creating CAD backgrounds in the area of the entry) Interior Elevations (2 sides), finishes, wall section, door details, framing and glazing details.
· Provide three-dimensional rendering of proposed enclosure.
· Construction Documents: Final “for construction” drawings and specifications as well as rendering posters for presentation purposes
· Conduct a life safety code study that provides the DOI life safety provisions for specifically designing and installing the glass entry. This study will review in general the nature and character of the project and give the DOI an overview of other possible code issues. These issues, if any, will not be part of this project and the study will terminate at the 6th floor elevator lobby or shortly thereafter. This step includes a site visit to verify existing conditions and dimensions. The code work will be reviewed and returned to DOI. Any review comments will be returned within 30 days. With the study approved the design process will begin. The study will need to be certified by a registered architect
· Evaluation of the heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning system (particularly airflow) with respect to the proposed partition by a licensed mechanical contractor. The study will identify any necessary considerations that will need to be incorporated into the design and will be certified by a registered professional engineer.
