About this file
This document outlines specifications for a fumigation monitoring system required by the USDA Agricultural Research Service. The agency requires a stand-alone monitoring device that uses non-dispersive infrared technology to measure phosphine and sulfuryl fluoride gas concentrations in grain storage structures and containers. The device must include at least 16 sampling ports, accurately measure the specified gases within stated ranges, transmit data readings to connected devices, and allow remote analysis of trends from laptops or phones. It must also collect data over distances of up to 500 feet through connected tubing at each port with a total response time of less than five minutes. The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 12805B23Q0680 for a Fumigation Monitoring System from the Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Field Research Implementation and Information Delivery Plains Area.

Specifications - Fumigation Monitoring Device
Requirements The USDA-ARS Center for Grain and Animal Health Research requires a stand-alone fumigation monitoring device to measure phosphine and sulfuryl fluoride fumigation gas concentrations in silos, bunkers, grain piles, and containers with advanced non-dispersive infrared technology (NDIR). The monitoring device must collect, archive, and distribute the data collected to a web connected device. The device must allow for the analysis of real-time trends in data on either on a laptop or mobile phone.
Specifications
The device must contain non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensors capable of monitoring for phosphine and sulfuryl fluoride and:
Include at least 16 sampling ports.
Measure phosphine gas at ranges between 60 and 2000 ppm and sulfuryl fluoride at levels between .16 and 240 g/M^3 with a sensitivity of 1 ppm for phosphine and sulfuryl fluoride and an accuracy of +/- 3 % throughout its full analytical range.
Generate analytical readouts in the range of 2-40 mA with a default setting of 0.016 mA per ppm.
Be capable of collecting data over distances of up to 500ft over the combined length of sample + exhaust tubing through each of the 16 sampling ports.
Have a total response time of <10 seconds and 0.1 sec per ft of distance between sensor and instrument.
Be capable of automatically re-zeroing.
Contain an LCD front panel display that clearly indicates operational mode and errors or faults in data collection.
Automatically transmit data via web portal interface and include access to software that will allow for real-time analysis of data.
Be capable of 256 SSL encryption enabled through Amazon Web Service.
Indicate temperature and pressure, zero, and purge faults.
Include a mechanism for water vapor removal.
Include a 1-year warranty and delivery to the location.
Data Requirements
Data shall be transmitted in real time via cellular network or local wifi through a secure communication platform..
Delivery To be delivered by September 2023
