About this file

This is a Statement of Objectives for a federal procurement by the USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Northwest Irrigation and Soils Research Unit in Kimberly, Idaho. The requirement is to provide and install a complete 24-foot agricultural grain dump box bed system with a 30-ton scissor lift hoist on a 2025 Freightliner 114SD truck.

The grain box must be constructed of steel (not aluminum) with dimensions of 96 inches wide and less than 60 inches in side height. Steel specifications include 11 to 12 gauge sides (1/8 to 7/64 inch thickness) and 7 to 10 gauge floor (3/16 to 9/64 inch thickness), with the frame and sides built to industry standard specifications for the capacity size. The box color options are white, red, gray, or black. The dump system requires a dual 30-ton scissor hoist with electric or pneumatic valves on the hydraulic tank and a PTO-driven hydraulic pump. Additional features include a hydraulic high-lift one-piece tailgate with a locking system and three grain doors, LED side marker lights, and a hand crank roll tarp system. The rear pivot point must be 20 inches or less from the rear of the grain box, with a strengthening plate added to the truck frame at this point. The contractor must remount turn signal and brake lights if necessary, secure all lines for highway use, and complete installation on-site in Kimberly, Idaho, or within 200 miles of that location. The truck's existing rear axles cannot be moved, though frame shortening after the rear axles is permitted.
