Project: Procurement of a corn header for the classic+ plot combine
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work: Scientists and personnel at the US Dairy Forage Research Center have identified the need for a corn header that is specifically designed for harvesting grain for small research plots.
2.0 Background: Research programs at the US Dairy Forage Research Center are interdisciplinary and include the development of cropping systems that enhance forage production while protecting cropland and water resources. The corn header will be used in research to develop improved cover crop systems for dairy farms, and it will be used at the
Prairie du Sac research farm to assess and document best management practices for cover crops to farmers. As needed, the corn header will harvest and separate grain for small plot research, allowing more precise assessment of utilizing various cover crops in dairy forage rotations.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:

1. General
• Vendor must demonstrate prior experience with manufacturing a corn header that meets specifications described below and demonstrate that the corn header has been successfully used for grain harvesting and is a durable and reliable product.
2. Corn header for forage grains
• Must be compatible with the Classic+ plot combine, containing 2 rows and
30 in corn header
• Must include a concave 24 mm
• Must include a shaker (Graepel type) 28 mm
• Must include a cleaning sieve (Graepel type) 24 mm
• Must have a hydraulic adjustment of picker bars with distance indicated at drivers platform
• Must be for use of 60-75 cm spacing between corn rows
• Must have a heavy duty frame with conveyor belt
4.0 Government Furnished: NA
5.0 Deliverables / Schedule: The corn header and accessories (as described in the technical requirements specifications above) will be manufactured and shipped by the vendor and received at the USDFRC Research Farm at Prairie du Sac, WI by September30, 2023 or as negotiated.
