About this file
This specifications document outlines requirements for a microplate respirometry system to be procured by the United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service under solicitation number 12805B23Q0747. The system must include a reusable 24-well borosilicate glass microplate, sealing accessories, an oxygen sensor fitted to each well that can be recalibrated and sterilized for multiple experiments, and plate reader software for automated data acquisition and analysis of oxygen consumption rates within minutes. The system should support five plate sizes from 80 to 1700ul sample volumes, additional microplates that can increase capacity up to 240 samples, and be compatible with ambient and incubated temperatures. The preferred software, MicroRespTM, must provide a user-friendly Windows interface to optimize respirometry experiments and respiration data analysis.

Microplate Respirometry System Specifications
The microplate respirometry system allows for high throughput real-time oxygen consumption measurements in a wide variety of organisms.
• Must include a re-usable 24-well microplate made from borosilicate glass.
• Must include sealing accessories to create a tight seal for sample wells to acquire accurate oxygen consumption.
• Must include a plate reader with associated software for data acquisition and analysis.
• Each well must be fitted with a re-usable oxygen sensor, that can be re-calibrated and sterilized for multiple experiments.
• Potential to utilize 5 available plate sizes (80, 200, 500, 940, and 1700ul) allowing for a large range of sample sizes to be analyzed.
• Data on oxygen consumption rate for samples in individual wells must be able to be measured within minutes.
• Must be able to utilize additional ‘add-on’ microplates that can be purchased to increase experiment by increments of 24 and up to 10 plates (240 samples total at one time).
• Microplate must be equipped to be used at ambient temperatures as well as in an incubator, or water bath.
• (Brand Name or Equal) software, MicroRespTM, must be user-friendly with Windows software that will automate respirometry, analyze respiration data to get the most out of the oxygen microplate reader.
