Attachment 1 Specification

This action is to purchase a heavy-duty wide body squeeze chute is required. An acceptable unit has be 50 to 55 inches in width at the bottom, 132 to 144 inches in length and at least 90 inches in height. The unit must weigh around 5,000 pounds. Further the unit must be able to accommodate calves and cattle from 300 to 3,000 pounds liveweight.

Specifications:

1. The Lower hydraulic squeeze- the pivot point for squeezing the animal must be near the bottom base as to ensure when the animals are restrained that they are not forced downward in the chute but rather upward.

2. The chute must have hydraulic neck extension bars and a head holder. These devices allow the head and neck to be restrained and supported away from the animal’s body. The neck extension area must provide access point so that blood sampling from neck blood vessels is possible and other manipulations in the neck and head region can be readily accomplished by employees.

3. The chute must have two rear gates so that fecal samples can be collected or animal’s rears be examined, for example palpation of uterus during a pregnancy check.

The chute has two vertical split drop pans to provide access to the animal’s feet to treat hooves and to collect urine samples from steers.

5. The hydraulic pump which powers the chute must operate on 220 volts electrical source.
