Attachment 1 - Specifications Project: USDA CICGRU Sample chopper

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Scope: The USDA is in need of a chopper for preparing maize stover samples for laboratory analysis.

2.0 Background: The USDA CICGRU collects thousands of samples of maize stover that need to be ground for laboratory analysis. Handling, drying, weighing and grinding samples is costly and time consuming. Chopping these samples near field locations would enable much more efficient management of these samples.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:

Chopper must meet or exceed the following specifications and be set up and field ready upon delivery:

- Enable Mechanized Continuous feed of chopping material.

- Continuously Adjustable Chopping length with maximum cut length of 60 mm

- Must be capable of chopping any tissues derived from maize plants

- Unit must be mostly self-cleaning (minimal residue left in machine between samples)

- Machine should weigh 400 lbs or less and be less than 2 m in length, width, or height.

- Sound pressure for operator at 85 dB(A) or less

- Machine shall be equipped to operate at 110V.

- Machine shall come equipped with feeder table and feed conveyer.

- Quote shall include a minimum of 1 set of chopping knives.

- Quote shall include any applicable s/h.

- Qty: 1 unit

4.0 Deliverables/Schedule: Unit shall be delivered set up and field ready within 12 months of date of award.
