About this file
This document includes a solicitation for global metabolomics analysis services. The United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Plains Area is seeking a firm fixed price purchase order for one-time global metabolomics analysis and statistical analysis on 128 plasma samples and 96 liver samples from beef steers. The analysis is required to quantify circulating and liver metabolites associated with liver abscesses. Deliverables must be provided to the customer portal within 240 calendar days and include relative concentration profiles of named and novel metabolites detected via an HD4 platform, statistical analysis, biochemical interpretation in a word report, and analytical methods in an appendix. The performance location is the USDA-ARS Plains Area US Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, Nebraska. Responses must address all requirements in the request for quotation and include valid SAM registration and representations by the specified due date.

Specifications Global Metabolomics Analysis
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Background and Purpose:
Scientists at the Roman L. Hruska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) are developing scientific information and new technology to solve high priority problems for the U.S. beef, sheep, and swine industries. As part of the effort, they require global metabolomics analysis. These data will be used to quantify the circulating and liver metabolites that are associated with liver abscesses in beef steers.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
2.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:
The requirement is for global metabolomics and statistical analysis:
• A relative concentration profile of all structurally named small molecule entities, which can include both endogenous compounds, xenobiotics, and their metabolites, extracted from the samples and detected by an HD4 Global Metabolomics platform (Excel file).
• A reference library of more than 5,200 known and more than 7,000 novel metabolites.
• A statistical analysis of the resulting data, which typically consists of univariate significance tests (ttests and ANOVA) and, if appropriate, classification analyses.
• Summary biochemical interpretation of selected, statistically significant metabolites provided in a Word report. An outline of the analytical methods must be provided in Appendix form (Word report).
• Access to a client portal for downloading the study deliverables (Word report, Excel file, powerpoint of boxplots of all identified metabolites). The client portal must provide data analysis and visualization tools that allow for further data exploration.
3.0 Deliverable/Schedule/Address:
Delivered 240 days after award. Facility address is listed below:
USMARC
844 Rd 313 Clay Center, NE 68933
