About this file

This Special Packaging Instruction (SPI) sets forth requirements for packaging an Eyesafe Laser Rangefinder Subsystem. The SPI specifies that the rangefinder must be wrapped in lens tissue and cushioning, secured with tape, and placed in a Type III bag. It then requires placement inside a reusable container that meets military-standard dimensions of 11.60 x 9.45 x 4.25 inches and weighs 20.12 pounds. Markings on the container state it is reusable. As a last resort, the rangefinder can be wrapped in cushioning and placed in a Type III container. The related solicitation from the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution seeks DDAA SPI sets.
