SCOPE OF WORK (SOW)
Alma CO2 Fire Suppression Re-certification
San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park
1.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The scope of this contract is to remove, inspect, hydro test, refill, re-certification and reinstall the CO2 Cylinders at the Engine Room of The National Historic Landmark Schooner Alma at
San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park (SAFR) in San Francisco.
The work includes removing, installing, and testing CO2 cylinders, refilling the cylinders and performing a Hydrotest on the vessel at Hyde Street Pier. Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, tools, materials, supplies, transportation, qualified personnel, and supervision to perform the work. All work shall conform to the applicable National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) and USCG CFR codes and standards. Contractor shall coordinate all activities with the government provided Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
2.0 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Contractor shall provide all labor, materials and equipment to do the following:
A. Service the CO2 fixed fire system in Engine room:
1) Remove tanks from Engine Room and inspect CO2 cylinders
2) Reinstall CO2 cylinders in Engine Room
3) Refill Cylinders (75 lbs. / CO2 Cylinder)
B. Perform Hydrotest
1) Complete a successful Hydrotest
2) Provide a signed and dated certificate documenting completion/compliance
3.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE
1) Contractor shall be certified by the material/equipment manufacturer as trained in and as knowledgeable of, the manufacturer’s standard practice and procedure relating to installation of sprinkler systems.
2) Contractor shall be currently licensed, approved and meet regulatory requirements of United
States coast guard (USCG) and/or Department of Transportation (DOT)
3) All work is to be performed between the hours of Monday – Thursday, 7:00am and 3:30pm.
4) Upon completion of repairs, a final report will be provided to the SAFR – COR.
4.0 REFERENCES
Contractor is expected to conform to all applicable requirements including, but not limited to, the
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the CFR. The following are for reference only.
A. NFPA 12 chapter 9 (Controls)
B. USCG CFR 46 (CO2 specifics and Intervals)
C. USCG CFR 49 pt180 (Hydrotesting specific)
5.0 TESTING AND CLOSE-OUT
A. Contractor shall notify and coordinate all testing with the COR.
B. Contractor shall leave all areas neat and clean on a daily basis.
C. Contractor shall provide any data sheets direct to the COR as required by the SOW.
D. SAFR – COR will inspect all provided services by the contractor.
E. If there’s any discrepancies with the services, the contractor will fix the discrepancies for final inspections and with no additional cost to the government.
