About this file
This special packaging instruction provides detailed requirements for preserving, packing, and marking 5-60 kW generator sets for overseas shipment. The generators must be preserved according to MIL-STD-2073-1, with fluids drained and tags attached to identify preservation status. Technical publications are to be sealed in barrier bags and stored in document boxes. Generators are to be packed in wood or fiberboard crates lined with barrier bags and desiccant to protect against moisture. Packing methods include fully-enclosed wood crates per ASTM D7478 (Level A), fiberboard sheathing with barrier bag (Level B), and fiberboard containers with barrier bag and nailed to skid base (Minimal). Crates require specific stenciling and lead holes for lag bolts. Marking must follow MIL-STD-129 with unit identification and handling information. All wood packaging for overseas shipment must meet ISPM-15 standards for phytosanitary treatment.
This federal contract opportunity solicits quotes for 17 generator sets to be procured on a firm-fixed-price basis for the Trailer Mounted Support System through the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime. The generators include 7 units of an 18 kW model and 10 units of a 33 kW model. First article testing is not required. Pricing is requested FOB destination with standard warranties. Accelerated delivery is accepted at no additional cost.
