Pushback Tow Simulator (Salient Characteristics)
Equipment
Display: To provide the driver (trainee) a realistic environment, 180 degree FOV (field of view) is required to allow the driver to use situational awareness of their surroundings, just as would be done on the flight line. 180 degree FOV may be acquired through the use of one single curved monitor or multiple monitors.
- Resolution: 1440 should be the minimum screen resolution
- Monitors: A curved screen or multiple flat screens to provide 180-degrees
Driving Compartment: To further provide the driver a realistic environment, we require a driving compartment that resembles the MB-2 Tow Tractor interior cab with the following specifics:
- Physical or digital displays capable of displaying instrumentation.
- Steering wheel, brake, clutch, and accelerator pedals.
- Seat: The seat provided should resemble that of a standard vehicle seat, adjustable to the height of the operator.
Allowable Dimensions:
- 8 x 10 ft area
- Height: 7 ft
- Area: 560 ft^3
Features:
- Conventional towbar is a requirement (towbarless tractors are not used on our airframe). The standard tow vehicle FMC B1200 is an acceptable tractor as it is capable of towing a range of aircraft to include the Boeing
- Scenario editor:
o Weather (i.e. visibility) o Movement (multiple turns)
- Selectable Pushback, Aircraft, and Location
- Push Type: Tail Left / Tail Straight / Tail Right
- Wing walkers w/ headsets and wands
- The preferred aircraft dimensions and allowable ranges are provided below:
Preferred Allowable Range Wingspan 130 ft. 110 ft. – 150 ft.
Length 128 ft. 108 ft. – 148 ft.
Height 41 ft. 31 ft. – 51 ft.
- Databases must be customizable to replicate airport or gate layout allowing specific training
Required Vehicles:
Simulator must have the capability of providing tow simulations for the tow vehicles listed below:
- Conventional tractor modeled after FMC B1200
- MB-2 Tow Tractor
Required Aircraft Simulator must have the capability of providing tow simulations for the air frames listed below:
