Optimize Targets
Study instrument design trade-offs that optimize target capabilities (see desired targets in Appendix ?).
Instrument design parameters of particular interest are spectral coverage, spectral sampling, spectral break points, ground spatial resolution, swath width.
Onboard Calibration Approaches
Optimize onboard calibration system approaches, including identifying any required spacecraft maneuvers.
Size, Mass and Power vs. Capability and S/C Constraints
Trade instrument capability to achieve science/measurement goals vs. constraints on instrument size, mass and power imposed by the spacecraft and mission CONOPS.
I&T Verification Approaches and Needs
Perform study to determine ground system equipment (GSE) needed to verify potential performance requirements. Especially radiance/SNR trades in the UV and SWIR.
Commented [MKG(61]: The purpose here is to better define the specific knobs to turn in Trade Study 2.2.3, and also to facilitate investigating design trade-offs that would enable the closest capabilities to our desired targets should a response not meet all of those targets. Check the wording to ensure this intent is coming across clearly.
