DATE: EXAMINER:

Complete form when 1/40-acre fixed and/or the 20 BAF variable plot is located in mixed conifer fir (MF) or in ponderosa pine-white fir (PW) vegetation types. MF = false & true firs, other conifer species are more than 20% of the conifer canopy and there are at least 3 other conifer species in addition to ponderosa pine (i.e., PILA, PSME, ABCO, CADE27, other conifers). PW = ponderosa pine is more than 40% of the conifer canopy and PIPO+ABCO is more than 75% of the cover, and no other conifer is more than 10% cover.

Assumption is that live vegetation fixed plots average 1/40-acre for trees 4-9.9" DBH and vegetation composition (shrubs, etc.), and variable plot is determined with a 20BAF. An additional 1/4-acre Fixed Plot is included in the CSE protocol for snag data collection

(info on species, decay class, heights, diameter 15"-19.9" and 20"+ diameter will be collected separately).
