Questions and Answers
As of 8/17/2016
1. The project calls for approximately 710 class 3 rip rap. The rock sources all seem to deal in river rock.
Will it be okay to use river rock for the rip rap?
In reading through Section 705.02 (Riprap Rock) of FP-03, it states that the rock shall be “hard, durable, angular rock….”
The idea being that angular rock will lock into place better than rounded rock. That being said, river rock might be suitable if it has some broken edges, and is still angular in nature.
2. Are there any quarry sources nearby or do you have any information on potential commercial suppliers nearby?
Hayes Construction on Indian Creek out of Happy Camp
Eddy Conners has a pit out of Horse Creek
