P = Ponderosa or Jeffrey pine Directions: This schematic diagram is an example of how a research unit shall be interplanted. Although all research units have the same pattern for species-specific planting spots within each of the three individual unit blocks, not all of the six research units have the same scheme in respect to which of the three blocks is a "control block" verus which are interplant blocks. Individual unit maps shall be referred to for direction on which of the two blocks within each research unit shall be interplanted. Interplant research blocks are bordered by yellow/white striped flagging. Control research blocks are bordered by pink flagging.
Note: Individual planting spots are approximately at the center of each colored 12 foot2 space. Use the color-coded key below the diagram for deciding which species to plant in each spot.
