Observatory Campground Host Site Improvements

Q&A’s

Question 1: The slope of the road is greater than 2%, the new concrete pad must be 2% max in all directions. How does the Forest Service plan to tie into the existing roadway and still meet the 2% max slope in all directions on the pad?

Answer 1: There is a leader arrow pointing to a solid blue “breakline” in between the wheel stops and the roadway on page 4 of 5 of the drawings. The blue “breakline” represents the end of a driveway.

The note attached to the leader arrow states a 10% max slope driveway can be designed to ramp up or ramp down to ensure the parking spur concrete pad and picnic area will be 2% in all directions.

Question 2: Where can we stage equipment?

Answer 2: The Contractor can propose a specific location if they would like and the Forest Service can check with the Forest Service Recreation Staff. The campsite spurs to be utilized as staging will need to be taken off the reservation website for the duration of the contract. The Forest Service will look into blocking out campsites #16 & #17 and possibly #18 for staging.

Question 3: Will the picnic table be furnished by the Forest Service?

Answer 3: Yes, that is correct.

Other Points:

The light pole with fixture does not appear to have underground electrical running to it.

Instead, an extension cord is run from the fixture and pole across the site to the above ground electrical box on the Northeast side of the site.

The leach field is located in the cleared area behind the existing shed. No equipment shall be in this area.
