North Fork Recreation Site Rehabilitation – AG-82B1-S-10-0396

Nat Modderman 8/26/2010

#1Question - In the drawing for the campfire rings it illustrates that the ring simply sits on top of the compacted gravel and gets filled with aggregate. Is this correct or do we need to bury the fire ring several inches?
Answer – The fire ring is placed on top of the gravel with anchors placed in the aggregate fill. The interior of the fire ring is then filled with aggregate up to 9” in height to provide a fire building surface at the correct reach level for persons using a wheelchair.
#2Question – In the appendix section 02120 it talks about the removal of the existing outhouses and the breaking up of the floor for removal. It then talks about the pumping out of the toilet vaults. Since these toilets are not in use, do they need to be pumped or can they simply be taken away, the floors removed and the hole back-filled and compacted.
Answer – These toilets have been in use until the new toilets were installed this summer. They will all need to be pumped prior to removal. Once they are pumped then the building and floor can be removed, the vaults removed and the hole back-filled.
#3Question - Since we are projecting several hundred yards of aggregate being trucked into the area we would like to be able to dump quantities needed in each area. Can we stage aggregate, and if so can we stage at each campground.
Answer – You will be able to stockpile materials at each site or we can provide stockpile sites at convenient locations between sites if necessary.
