CREEDE EAST BENCH WATER SYSTEM UPGRADE - AG-82AK-S-13-0010
PRE-BID MEETING – August 9, 2013, 10 am

QUESTIONS/CLARIFICATIONS ABOUT CONTRACT:
1. Please clarify the bid due date. The website says September 6th, and the documents say September 7th.
2. Clearing and Grubbing (Line Item No. 1) includes tree and slash removal at the treatment building location.
3. An attendee asked if a steel building would be acceptable in lieu of stick-built construction. The answer is NO.
4. The soil on site is known to be rocky – examples of the size of rock pulled from recently trenching was reviewed (rocks measured from 1.5 in size to 6”).
5. No barbed fittings/clamps allowed – brass or HDPE fittings only. Fused fittings are acceptable.
6. Depth of footer at existing administrative building is 5 feet; slab is 5-6”. The project requires that the water line as it comes into the building be held as close to the wall as possible.
7. It is acceptable to bring the water and electrical line in a the same location (at the existing building), as long as code distances and requirements are met.
8. The water pressure tank removal from the existing building will require the door frame be removed from the existing water treatment room. Please include this work in Line Item No. 5.
9. The water system needs to remain operational (in-service) during construction.
10. Updated drawings need to be posted to the website – the updated drawings show the ground elevations and inverts needed for Phase II on Sheet 22.

11. The contractor will need to supply special bedding material for piping and conduit as indicated in the contract documents. The contractor is also responsible for importing backfill, if needed, for trenches should the volume of rock significantly reduce the amount of backfill available from excavation operations. There is suitable backfill available in Del Norte, CO, and may be available from another supplier that is closer.
12. The contractor will be allowed to stay on-site during construction in available RV slots with a maximum of two trailers. Contractor is to provide their own electricity, but will be allowed to use the site’s water and septic system for servicing their trailers.
13. Bidders should be aware that changes will be posted on the website, and to download the latest drawings and specifications.
