Bid Item Descriptions EZ 1: EZ 1 was harvested winter of 2016. There is a residual over story of approximately 10 basal area (BA) or approximately 12 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via Forest Road (FR) 2187 which is a gravel surfaced road that is 2 wheel drive accessible. There is a private drive way in the middle of the south east corner of the unit. Extra care will be taken to not damage the drive way, all trenches will be 12 feet from the edge of the drive way. In the east side of the unit there is an access road to an old gravel pit which is located in the unit the road should remain open and the gravel pit is not part of the unit. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting jack pine. Slopes in the unit range from moderate to steep.

Moderate to heavy slash is distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 2: EZ 2 was harvested winter of 2016. There is a residual over story of approximately 10 basal area (BA) or approximately 12 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via Forest Road (FR) U4147 which is a natural surface road that is 2 wheel drive accessible during dry times. The first 200 feet of the road is on private land, and the road is gated. The forest service has permission to use the road, but extra care will be taken to not damage the road. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting jack pine. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to flat and there is moderate slash distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 3: EZ 3 was harvested winter of 2016. There is a residual over story of approximately 10 basal area (BA) or approximately 12 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via Forest Road (FR) U4147 which is a natural surface road that is 2 wheel drive accessible during dry times. The first 200 feet of the road is on private land, and the road is gated. The forest service has permission to use the road, but extra care will be taken to not damage the road. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting white spruce. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to flat and there is moderate slash distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 4: EZ 4 was harvested winter of 2016. There is a residual over story of approximately 30 basal area (BA) or approximately 25 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via a temp road/ skid trail and FR 2402 which is a gravel surfaced road that is 2 wheel drive accessible. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting white pine. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to flat and there is moderate slash distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 5: EZ 5 was harvested winter of 2016. There is a residual over story of approximately 20 basal area (BA) or approximately 15 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via a temp road/ skid trail and FR 2423C which is a natural surfaced road that is 2 wheel drive accessible when dry. The Temp road has not been used for many years and will require some brush work to gain access. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting white pine. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to flat and there is moderate slash distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 6: EZ 6 was harvested winter of 2016. There is a residual over story of approximately 50 basal area (BA) or approximately 35 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via FR 2427 which is a gravel surfaced road that is 2 wheel drive accessible. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting white pine. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to flat and there is moderate slash distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 7: EZ 7 was harvested summer of 2015. There is a residual over story of approximately 10 basal area (BA) or approximately 12 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via FR 2181R which is a natural surfaced road that is 2 wheel drive accessible during dry conditions. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting red pine. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to steep and there is moderate to heavy slash distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 8: EZ 8 was harvested fall of 2015. There is a residual over story of approximately 50 basal area (BA) or approximately 35 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via FR 2181 which is a gravel surfaced road that is 2 wheel drive accessible. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting white pine. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to steep and there is moderate to heavy slash distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 9: EZ 9 was harvested fall of 2015. There is a residual over story of approximately 10 basal area (BA) or approximately 12 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via a temp road/ skid trail and FR 2697B which is a natural surfaced road that is 2 wheel drive accessible during dry conditions. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting white pine. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to steep and there is moderate to heavy slash distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 10: EZ 10 was harvested fall of 2015. There is a residual over story of approximately 10 basal area (BA) or approximately 12 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via a temp road/ skid trail and FR 2697B which is a natural surfaced road that is 2 wheel drive accessible during dry conditions. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting white pine. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to steep and there is moderate to heavy slash distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 11: EZ 11 was harvested spring of 2015. There is a residual over story of approximately 20 basal area (BA) or approximately 25 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via Itasca County Road 129 which is a gravel surfaced road that is 2 wheel drive accessible. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting white pine. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to flat and there is moderate to heavy slash distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 12: Part of EZ 12 was harvested summer of 2015 the eastern portion was harvested spring of 2014.

There is a residual over story of approximately 10 basal area (BA) or approximately 15 trees per acre.

The unit is accessed via FR 2346 which is a natural surfaced road that is 2 wheel drive accessible during dry conditions. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting pine. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to flat and there is moderate to heavy slash distributed threw out the unit.

EZ 13: EZ 13 was harvested winter of 2015. There is a residual over story of approximately 10 basal area (BA) or approximately 12 trees per acre. The unit is accessed via a temp road/ skid trail and FR 2164D which is a natural surfaced road that is 2 wheel drive accessible during dry conditions. The unit will be power disk trenched for planting tamarack and black spruce. Slopes within the unit range from moderate to flat and there is moderate slash distributed threw out the unit.

WZ 1: Harvested 1/20/2016. Clearcut with reserves. 7 -15 Residual TPA. Hydro-ax Brushing followed by Disk Trench for planting jack pine. Access stand from Co. Rd. 31 and FR 3646.

WZ 2: Harvested 1/20/2016. Clearcut with reserves. Two reserve areas marked with a spot and x where no site prep will occur. Hydro-ax Brushing followed by Disk Trench for planting white spruce. Site prep on high areas. Low area in the center of the stand and throughout the stand. Access stand from Beltrami Co. Rd. 307.

WZ 3: Harvested June 2016. Single tree selection with salvage of damaged trees. Site prep in gaps created during harvest for planting white pine. Access is from Cass county 10 and FR 2352.
