· Cindy Sandeno, District Ranger cmsandeno@fs.fed.us

· Adam Taylor, South Zone Engineer ajtaylor@fs.fed.us

· John Cooke, South Zone Civil Engineering Technician johncooke@fs.fed.us

Angela described the contract and the project scope. It entails replacing the concrete wall sections that were washed out and saved. Driving sheet piles and resurfacing the beach. All three beach repair options have to have a bid. Riprap will be installed in the upstream section of the beach to tie the sheet pile wall into the existing bank.

Questions

· What is the extent of concrete to be removed? See plans. The concrete wall sections have to be restored to original grade but none are to be removed. The existing concrete pad is to be removed and replaced, design subject to the option the Forest Service selects.

· Where is the flagstone coming from? Site and other outside sources.

· Permits to work in Stream. FS has permits to work in the stream. No equipment to operate in the stream, though.

· De-Watering needed? Yes. You will provide the FS a plan before beginning work.

· Any problems with fish spawn? No fish but there is another aquatic organism, a snail, which is endangered. The snail reproduces in the spring. The fall is the best time to work on this project.

· Concrete Wash water disposal? A plan is needed for this also before work begins.

· Tree Removal? The tree removal may be added in an amendment.

· Construction Access? Access is through the gate on Anthony Road near the beach.

· Waste Site for concrete to be removed on the beach slab? The concrete slab waste will have to be removed from FS property. Up to 5 tandem truck loads of River Jack may be wasted on the Rocky run waste area (this may be added in an amendment).

· Flagstone quantity needed? See page 3 on design

· FS Comment: Existing Flagstone will be protected in some fashion if equipment is to operate on it.

· FS Comment: Palletizing and moving the extra flagstone stacked in the back of the beach may be added to the contract in an amendment.

· FS Comment: A list of required submittals is listed on the design, page 3.

· Will there be testing of the concrete? We will test the slump of the concrete when it arrives.

· Will FS have a full-time inspector on site? FS will randomly inspect site but contractor is required to do Quality Control. The FS will do Quality Assurance.

· Where is the riprap installed? The upstream of the wall and the tie area into the bank.

We then showed the contractors the salvaged Wall sections and the left the site at 2:15pm.
