1. The term hyperspectral is often misused. While originally referred to "imaging spectrometer" --it is often used for what is traditionally known simply as "spectrometer". Hyperspectral refers to “many wavebands” and is equally applied to both imaging and non-imaging systems. However, I am interested in the non-imaging system. Can you please clarify what is the USDA asking for?
From the specifications I would say it is a (fiber optics fed) spectrometer, like the ASD device.
But I need to ask, since my company does make hyperspectral sensors (imaging spectrometers) but I think the title of this solicitation may be misconstrued. The “spectrometer” is to be field portable, but does not necessarily have to be fiber optic. It could be fixed-optic with fiber attachments as accessories. Any clarifications would be appreciated. Hope that helps.
