BOUNDARIES – All boundaries are marked with white tags and/or orange and black striped ribbon.
All stem densities vary from dense thickets to small openings less than one acre in size. The quoter is advised to visit the work sites to determine average cut trees per acre prior to submitting a quote. The quoter is responsible for determining the amount of work.
Species abbreviations are as follows: DF = Douglas-fir, ES = Englemann Spruce, LP = Lodgepole Pine, PP = Ponderosa Pine, AF = Sub-
Alpine Fir, GF = Grand Fir, RC = Western Red Cedar, WH = Western Hemlock, WL = Western Larch, WP = Western White Pine, BC= Black Cottonwood, QA= Quaking Aspen and PB = Birch species
1/ No cut trees are as follows: WP, BC, QA, and PB.
2/ All trees over maximum DBH cut limit count as leave trees. Space all healthy, undamaged leave trees to 20 feet X 20 feet spacing.
Spacing can vary up to 25% of the desired distance to leave the most desirable trees.
3/ Leave trees by preference are as follows: PP, WL, DF, RC, ES, LP, AF, WH and GF
4/ Stump heights not to exceed 6 inches.

5/ Within 50 feet of the centerline of a stream channel, marsh or lake shift species preference to RC, WH, ES, AF, PP, WL, DF, LP, and
GF. Do not cut or pile within 20 feet of stream channel.
6/ Lop and scatter all slash, ensuring slash accumulations are between 1 feet and 3 feet in depth. Slash will be cut into lengths of 5 feet or less. Top limb all slash, allowing limbs to fall in place. Slash shall be pulled back 6 feet from unit boundaries, trails, leave trees, and fences.
7/ Lop and scatter required when slash accumulations exceed 2 feet in depth. Slash will be cut into lengths of 5 feet or less. Slash shall be pulled back 6 feet from unit boundaries, leave trees, trails and from fences.
8/ Pull back all slash 10 feet from RC > 16” DBH.
9/ Do not make hand piles within 5 feet of snags and down woody material greater than 16” DBH for Pine Marten or Pileated
Woodpecker management area.
10/ No cutting in mapped wildlife exclusions and plant exclusions. Exclusions are marked with orange and black striped flagging.
11/ Hand pile all slash within 300 yards of the lake edge. Piled material shall be placed in a uniform direction and compacted down to limit air pockets. Handpiles must be located at least 6 feet from leave trees > 10” DBH and at least 20 feet from any Forest and unit boundaries. Handpiles should be between (L x W x H) 4 ft x 8 ft x 4 ft and 6 ft x 8 ft x 6 ft in size with waterproof paper covering top 1/3 of pile with material placed on top to prevent loss of paper due to wind.
12/ Hand pile all slash. Piled material shall be placed in a uniform direction and compacted down to limit air pockets. Handpiles must be located at least 6 feet from leave trees > 10” DBH and at least 20 feet from any Forest and unit boundaries. Handpiles should be between (L x W x H) 4 ft x 8 ft x 8 ft and 6 ft x 8 ft x 6 ft in size with waterproof paper covering top 1/3 of pile with material placed on top to prevent loss of paper due to wind.
13/ Construct hand fireline to a width of 12- 18 inches, cleared to exposed mineral soil. All slash, brush, and other similar vegetation will be pulled back 10 feet towards the interior of the unit. *Optional bid item.
14/ Pull back all slash within 100 feet of historical cabin or barn sites.
