Questions & Answers - #1
1. What is the bottom elevation of the 1’-6” diameter concrete columns? 4’ – 8” BFF. Ref Foundation Plan, S1.01 foundation notes.
2) Can you provide a copy of the soils report? No, we do not have a soils report.
| 3) | Structural notes on S0.01 call for 6 feet of compacted granular fill underneath the slab on grade. Is this depth for both the slab under the building and the two slabs outside of the building? The note should read 6 inches. Ref S1.01 “Backfill with compacted native material, 6” crushed granular material over native compacted backfill to elevation.” Six inches is the depth of aggregate for all slabs, both inside and out. (Amendment #1 changes the “6 feet...” reference to 6”). |
| 4) | What is the finish on the patio ceiling? Hardboard Soffit material as specified in 06 20 13. Venting sections at edges only. Field sections solid. |
| 5) | What is the spacing for the stud connection to sill plate strap shown on S2.06? 16” or 12” depending on stud location within the structure. |
a) Is it acceptable to use a Simpson SSP for this connection? No, Simpson SSP is not acceptable. Simpson CS-20 Strap, bent as shown transfers the loads more symmetrically. Simpson SPH6R could be substituted, but CS-20 Strap is preferred, especially since it will be utilized at the top plate/stud/truss connections too.
6) Metal roofing specifications call for a 20” seam width. This is not a common seam width and would have to be specially rolled. A 12” seam width is commonly available from most metal roofing suppliers. Would it be acceptable to change the seam width from 20” to 12”? No, 12“ is not acceptable. Both 16” and 20” are commercially available. We will accept 20” or 16”. Cap and batten specified is mandatory.
