TOLERANCES AND STANDARDS

A. PLOT LOCATION and ESTABLISHMENT

The ground location of the installed plot shall be 15 meters horizontal radius from the Inspectors coordinates. Any plot located beyond this distance shall be charged a fatal error and the entire block shall be returned to Contractor for rework.

TREE DATA

Heading:

Field 10.1: Plot Number NO ErrorsField 10.2: Tag ID Number NO ErrorsField 10.5: Growth Sample Trees(GST) NO ErrorsRecord code “G” for GST trees. AGE is the only required additional data item collected.

A GST tree is the first live standing sample tree of each species encountered on each plot in each of the following diameter classes, moving clockwise from 0 degrees azimuth.In addition, if not already tallied, the largest tree of each species on each plot is also a GST tree. The following GST diameter classes will be used for each species on each plot:

GST Diameter Class

5.0 – 14.9 inches;

15.0 – 24.9 inches;

25.0+ inches;

Largest tree

Field 10.3: Tree Status NO Errors Field 10.6: Tree Species NO Errors Field 10.7: Tree Count +/- 2 trees or 20%Record trees ≥ 5.0'' DBH individually. Record growth sample trees individually.

For live trees 3.0 - 4.9 inch DBH, group by species and record the average diameter of the group.

For dead trees 3.0 – 4.9” DBH, group by species, and record the average diameter of the group.

Field 10.22: Tree Damage Category Only the Damage Categories specified below are required for old growth exams. The General Agent for each category is generally sufficient. Other damages are NOT required to be recorded. Note that Quick Plots do not require coding even the above damage categories if the damage in these categories is minor.Field 10.23: Tree Damage Agent Field 10.25: Tree Damage SeverityCategory

The Contractor shall provide all field data to the Government in an electronic format. Data will be acceptable if provided on an MS-DOS formatted compatible double-sided, double-density, 3.5” floppy disk, and CD-R disk or by E-Mail (to the specified address), with files written in the specified ExamsPC Software file format, .cse and pre-audited for any errors. Acquired GPS locations must be collected and projected in the correct coordinate system. With either media, data must be readable by the Government’s PC computers. No adjustments will be made due to program errors that result in data errors or loss of data. If a fatal error occurs the block shall be returned to the Contractor for rework of data format.

1. STAND COMMENTS

A stand without a stand comments filled out will be returned to the Contractor to be completed.

Down Woody Material plot locations shall be located with the CSE OG plots, using Browns Protocol method. Starting at plot center the transect azimuth shall be determined by the travel route to the next CSE OG plot. Transect length shall be a total of 35’.

7. Down-Woody Materials - The following items are required to be collected per transect, included are tolerances for the data collected.
