Statement of Work
PROJECT NAME:
Begich, Boggs Visitor Center Projection Screen Assembly Replacement
LOCATION:
The Begich, Boggs Visitor Center is located at 800 Portage Lake Loop, about Mile 5 of the Portage
Highway.
INTRODUCTION: The goal of this contract is to purchase and install a new theater screen, and a motor, brake and control assembly system (MBCAS), with the necessary electronic program connections and cables, cards, etc., to integrate into the existing audio-visual (AV) system to allow the screen to work automatically. The contract must cover the safe shipping of these items to the Begich, Boggs Visitor
Center (BBVC) in Alaska. The contractor shall provide all materials, equipment, and labor for the projector screen and MBCAS installation. The contractor shall install and test the equipment to make sure that it functions properly with the other AV equipment already in place, provide a maintenance manual, and train the staff on how to operate, trouble shoot and maintain the new equipment.
BACKGROUND: The BBVC’s current Stewart Screen was purchased in 2004 and is now over 10 years old and damaged beyond repair. We recently installed a new HD film as well as a new Christie projector, and the old screen, if it were functional, does not allow the film to be shown at the proper ratio and with the best quality reflectivity. In addition, the existing MBCAS is no longer functional and so the screen cannot be retracted to reveal a view of Portage Lake at the end of the production, which is one of the highlights of each showing. As a result we need to replace the old screen with a new proper ratio screen.
This will allow us to show the new film and other films at the highest quality level possible. In addition we need to replace the old MBCAS with a new one which will allow the screen to roll up and down providing the public with the best experience possible.
SCOPE: This project covers the selection, purchase, and installation of the new theater screen, and
MBCAS as well as training in the proper use and maintenance of the new equipment. The contractor shall be responsible for the removal and disposal of the existing theater screen. The contractor shall also be responsible for initial and follow up technical support as detailed in this document.
PROJECT COMPLETION: All work shall be completed and accepted by the government by May 27, 2015.
