Greentop Cabin and Trail Restoration Project

Amendment #3

Item #1:

Revised Schedule of Items as follows:

Change Est. Qty. from 1526 LF to 1297 LF. This quantity includes 1197 LF that are designated in the Trail Restoration Log and an additional 100 LF that will be designated on the ground by the Government.

Item #2:

There have been inquiries about the availability of suitable Yellow Cedar material for corduroy within a reasonable distance from the corduroy work areas. The Government has reviewed the situation and believes there is suitable material for corduroy within a reasonable distance.

There were also inquiries about the installation of corduroy where there is a substantial root mat.

Corduroy work areas are primarily over muskeg and fens with few woody roots; however within the work areas there are short, intermittent sections of rooty soil. The Government will mark areas to be excluded from corduroy installation.

Specification 932.03 Corduroy. - Delete and replace with:

Use Alaska Yellow Cedar Trees according to the following requirements:

- use only dead, sound snags within 30 feet either side of the trail centerline

- use snags or live trees found beyond 30 feet from the trail centerline

- where suitable Yellow Cedar trees are not available within 200 feet of the trail centerline, use other species of suitable size as approved.

Specification H.7 1). Delete and replace with:

1). Alaska Yellow Cedar timber or other species as approved for constructing the various timber structures in this contract. Cut stumps flush with the ground or “rusticate” the tops of stumps and place soil and moss on them to provide a natural appearance. Place tops and branches in locations out of sight of the trail. Utilize all suitable timber to a 4” top. Cut only what is needed for work as staked.
